Version 1.0 · issued 31 October 2026 · next review 31 October 2027
Purpose
This policy sets clear rules for how pupils must use the school's online platforms for live lessons and recordings, so that pupils are kept safe and the whole school community is protected.
Who it applies to
It applies to all pupils using the school's accounts, platforms, links and lesson spaces, in live group sessions and in recordings watched later.
Rules you must follow
Use your own account
- You must use your own login only.
- You must not share your account or password with anyone.
Be respectful
- You must use appropriate language in chat, comments and lesson discussion.
Stay in approved areas
- You may only use the school-approved chat, links and tools that staff give you.
Cameras and participation
- You may keep your camera off by default.
- You must turn your camera on when a member of staff asks you to.
No personal information
- You must not share your full name where it is not already required, your address, phone number, email, social media handles or passwords in chat or in any space connected to recordings.
No harmful or illegal content
- You must not post, upload or share harmful content, threats, sexual content, hate content, or anything that could put a person at risk.
No bullying
- You must not bully, harass, tease or target anyone. This includes cyberbullying.
No screenshots or screen recordings
- You must not take screenshots or record your screen during a live lesson.
- You must not record or copy recordings.
Do not share recordings
- Recordings are for school use by pupils only.
- You must not download, share, upload or send recordings to anyone outside the school.
Follow staff instructions
- If staff ask you to change your behaviour, your camera settings or your use of chat, you must do so.
What happens if the rules are broken
The school treats breaches seriously. Consequences may include:
- removal from live lessons, temporary or permanent;
- loss of access to parts of the platform, including recording access;
- behaviour sanctions in line with the Behaviour Policy;
- a safeguarding referral where one is required.
Reporting
If you see unsafe behaviour, bullying or anything that worries you, tell a member of staff straight away using the school's reporting route.
Review
This policy is reviewed at least once a year and whenever the platform rules change.
